The Mere Exposure Effect is a phenomenon currently grabbing a lot of attention in the field of psychology. The more a person, or persons, is exposed to something, the more they will come to like it is a great way to sum up exactly what the Mere Exposure Effect is. This effect can be applied to not only objects, but people as well.Mere Exposure Effect The Mere Exposure Effect Can Help You Get Noticed

By following the MEP, you could say there would be some positive benefit from simply being around a person you like. If there’s a love interest you see frequently working out at the gym, or walking her dog in front of your house each day, or even just passing her frequently on your morning commute, all of these meetings (granted she knows you’re there) can be working to your advantage.

You may not have even noticed, she neither, that you’re frequent run-ins are making you more and more attractive to her. Maybe you’re a very average Joe. The first time she saw you by the water cooler, she marked you down as a 5 out of 10. But, after seeing you repeatedly stopped next to her at red lights, sitting on your porch drinking coffee, or filling up your water bottle at the company supplied cooler, she now thinkgs of you as a 7 or 8 out of 10.

The best part about your ratings increase is the fact that you really haven’t done anything or even made an attempt to get her to like you. The simple act of being around her daily schedule has given you a ratings increase which means she likes you more without even know much of anything about you. Take this little nugget of info an put it in your pocket. But, please, whatever you do, don’t try to do things to impress someone as you appear during their daily routine.

If the girl you like walks her dog in front of your house everyday at 6, don’t setup a boom box with songs to be playing that you think are “cool” while you do some type of outdoor workout. If she sees you at the water cooler, don’t out-of-nowhere start talking loudly of how much tail you got last weekend, how shredded you’ve been getting, your new max bench press at the gym, or anything else you think will “impress” her. By doing and saying such things, you could effectively lower your rating and maybe even make her go out of her way to avoid crossing paths with you.
